What BORO is for

A construction company spends a lot of time looking things up and repeating steps: which offer for electrical works is cheapest, which BoQ positions have no price, what slipped in the schedule since the last locked version, which payment applications wait for approval. BORO, the BuildColab AI assistant, does this from a plain request in Bulgarian or English. It reads the same data you see in BuildColab, uses the same tools as the screens, and can prepare or carry out changes: create BoQ positions, price them from history, send an offer request, report schedule progress, create a task on a board or a Word or Excel file in the file manager.

BORO is not a separate module with its own data. Whatever it reads or changes is the normal BuildColab data: a position BORO adds to a BoQ appears in the BoQ editor, and a task BORO creates appears on the task board. Screens that are open refresh by themselves when BORO changes something.

How BORO works

  • Tools. BORO works through named tools, for example "Fetch projects", "Resource analysis" or "Set unit price". In the BORO panel each step shows as a row, so you can see what BORO looked at and what it did. The full list of areas and example requests is on What BORO can do.
  • Read tools run at once; changes wait for you. Looking things up happens immediately. Anything that changes data (about 186 of BORO's more than 300 tools) stops and shows a card Requires approval (Изисква одобрение) with Approve (Одобри) and Decline (Откажи). By default nothing is written before you approve; a company can switch individual tools to No approval (Без одобрение). See Approvals and background tasks.
  • Your permissions, your company. BORO can never do more than you can do yourself in the app. If you only have View on payment applications, BORO cannot approve one for you. It sees only the company selected in the sidebar.
  • It knows this User Guide. "How do I…" and "where is…" questions are answered from this guide, with a link to the page.
  • It can look things up on the web. For current material prices, norms or product data BORO searches the web and lists its sources.
  • It remembers what matters. BORO keeps short facts between conversations (your preferences, company conventions, project facts). See Memory.
  • Skills. For common procedures (pricing an offer, building a schedule, filling a payment application from a document) BORO loads built-in instructions called skills. Your company can add its own. See Skills.
  • Long jobs run in the background. Multi-step work can run as a background task while you keep working.

Opening BORO

  1. Select a company in the sidebar. BORO works only inside a company, so the button is not shown on the company selection screen.
  2. Click BORO in the top bar. The BORO panel opens on the right. The page you were on moves left and stays usable, so you can work and chat side by side.
  3. To make the panel wider or narrower, drag its left edge (between about 300 and 720 pixels).
  4. To close it, click Close (Затвори, the X) in the panel header. Your conversation is kept; the next time you open BORO it continues where you left off.

While BORO is working on a conversation in the background, the BORO button in the top bar shows a small counter.

  1. The panel header shows BORO, the subtitle AI assistant and the name of the current project or company.
  2. The header buttons: New conversation (Нов разговор, +) starts an empty chat, History (История, clock) lists your conversations and leads to background tasks, Settings (Настройки, gear) opens BORO Settings.
  3. The message field Message BORO… (Съобщение до BORO…) with the Add (+) menu for files, dictation and Send.
  4. Under the field: the model chip Auto and the credit chip with the company's balance; clicking it opens the Credits (Кредити) sheet.
  5. The eye button shares the current screen with BORO; once a conversation has messages, a ring next to it shows how full the conversation is.

A typical way to work with BORO

  1. Open the screen you want to talk about, for example a BoQ or an offer request, and open BORO. With the eye button on, BORO knows what is on your screen. See Chatting and attachments.
  2. Ask in your own words, for example "Which positions in this BoQ have no price?" or "Compare the offers for this request in a table". Attach a file if BORO needs one, such as a supplier's price list or a measurement protocol.
  3. Read the answer. Rows under the answer show which tools BORO used. For ideas of what to ask, see What BORO can do.
  4. When BORO proposes a change, check the card and click Approve or Decline. If BORO is unsure, it asks you with a Question from BORO card. See Approvals and background tasks.
  5. For long work ("price the whole electrical section from history"), let BORO run a background task and come back to the result.
  6. Keep an eye on credits: each reply shows what it cost, and the credit chip shows the balance. See Settings, models and credits.
  7. Teach BORO your company's way of working: save facts to Memory and write your own skills in Skills.
  8. If you prefer Claude, ChatGPT or another AI tool, connect it to BuildColab. See Connecting Claude, ChatGPT and others (MCP).

What it costs

Each BORO reply and each background task uses credits from the company's credit wallet. The cost depends on how much the AI model reads and writes: long conversations, large attachments and stronger models cost more. Each reply shows its cost (for example "−0.8 credits"), and the credit chip under the message field shows the company's balance. Every plan includes credits every month (10 on Free, 100 on Starter, 400 on Professional, 1,200 on Business at the time of writing), and anyone in the company can buy more. When the balance reaches zero, BORO stops answering until credits are added. See Credits (BORO, file processing) and Settings, models and credits.

Common questions

I don't see the BORO button. Why?

BORO needs a selected company, so it is not shown on the company selection screen. Select a company in the sidebar. If you still don't see the BORO button, BORO is not enabled in your BuildColab environment; contact BuildColab support. If the button is there but every message fails with "The AI assistant is disabled for this company.", someone switched BORO off in BORO Settings → Governance; ask your company administrator.

Can BORO change my data without asking me?

Not by default. Every change shows an approval card first, and nothing is written until you click Approve. A company can switch individual tools to No approval in BORO Settings → Tools; then those tools run directly. Two things happen without a card: BORO saves short facts to memory automatically after a conversation, and, where code analysis is available, files BORO produces in such an analysis are saved to a folder named BORO in the file manager. See Approvals and background tasks and Memory.

Can BORO see other companies' data?

No. BORO sees only the company selected in the sidebar, and only what your own account can see in it. On a shared project it sees what you see as a member of that project, nothing more.

Does BORO work in Bulgarian?

Yes. You can write in Bulgarian or English. Dictation recognizes Bulgarian, English and German.

Is BORO included in the Free plan?

Yes. Every plan, including Free, can use BORO; plans differ in the number of credits included each month and in which built-in skills are available. What BORO can do also follows your plan: if your plan does not include the construction schedule (the Free plan does not), BORO cannot work on a schedule either. See Subscription, plans and billing.

Why does BORO say it cannot do something I can do on screen?

Either the tool was set to Blocked (Забранен) in BORO Settings → Tools, or the action has no BORO tool yet. The list of actions BORO cannot do is on What BORO can do.

Can I use BORO from Claude or ChatGPT instead?

Yes. Connect the AI tool to BuildColab through MCP. Unlike in the BORO panel, changes made by a connected tool are not shown to you as approval cards in BuildColab. See Connecting Claude, ChatGPT and others (MCP).

Can our company switch BORO off?

Yes. In BORO Settings → Governance (Управление), click Disable assistant (Изключи асистента) and then Save. This stops BORO and connected MCP tools for the whole company. See Settings, models and credits.
