How the money fits together

ScreenSideQuestion it answers
Investment budget — Budget / Contract with clientIncomeWhat will we be paid, line by line? How much is already approved?
Costs — Contracts with contractorsCostsWhat did we contract to subcontractors, and how much have they claimed?
Financial dashboard: committed, certified, marginBothFor each budget line: budget against committed costs, executed and remaining on both sides.
Reports and Cash flowPlanHow much work and which resources do we plan for each week, month, quarter or year?

Three figures connect income and costs on every budget line: Committed (Ангажимент) — what you signed with subcontractors; Certified (Сертифицирано) — what of it they claimed in approved payment applications; and Margin (Марж) — budget minus committed. All money is in EUR.

Key figures on the project page of a project in execution
Figure: The finance figures on the project page of a contractor.
  1. The Budget or Contract with client tile with Reported (Отчетено): the income side.
  2. The Contracts with contractors tile: the cost side. Here the contractor has no subcontracts yet, so it shows "0 contracts".
  3. The Certified this month tile with the link to the financial dashboard.

Typical sequence

  1. Get a budget. As an investor, accept a budget draft; as a contractor, sign the contract with your client. The project moves to Execution and the budget page appears. See Investment budget.
  2. Contract the work. Award parts of the budget to subcontractors through offer requests and contracts. Every signed line becomes a commitment. See Costs.
  3. Watch the margin. Switch on the cost columns in the budget, or open the financial dashboard, to compare budget and costs and link any unlinked contract lines. See Financial dashboard: committed, certified, margin.
  4. Bill and approve. Submit payment applications against your budget and approve your subcontractors' payment applications. See Payment applications.
  5. Plan the cash flow. From the construction schedule, open Reports for the cash flow and the resources by period. See Reports and Cash flow.

Common questions

Why don't I see any of these screens?

They appear in the Execution phase only and need a paid plan and the matching permissions. Accept your budget or sign your contract first.

What is the difference between "Reports" (Справки) and "Reports" (Отчети)?

Справки are the planned cost and resource reports opened from the schedule. Отчети are payment applications, opened with Reports in the budget or contract action bar and listed in the Report Register.

Can I see a profit-and-loss of the project?

The financial dashboard and the margin column show budget against committed costs per line and in total. Your overheads outside the project are not part of BuildColab.
